Digital Vaccination Card Prototype: Tech Leading the Way Forward in the Pandemic

News about the coming distribution of COVID-19 vaccines is bringing hope to a world held hostage by the pandemic. However, it will still be a long time before everyone has access and even longer still before people will feel safe going about their day-to-day activities. Many will feel more comfortable interacting with people if they have confirmation that these people have received the vaccine. But how can they be sure? That is where technology comes in.

Peace of Mind Through a Digital Certificate

Seattle startup, Vaccertify has just announced the launch of its new digital COVID-19 vaccine certificate prototype. It works with smartphones and is designed for social interactions and day to day activities. Vaccertify can help assure people that others they interact with have received the vaccination. Whether you want some assurance before hanging out with friends, want to be sure your babysitter or other service provider has been vaccinated, or want to assure others that you have been vaccinated, Vaccertify can take some of the worry out of this very stressful time. Currently, our only other options would be to take someone’s word that they have been vaccinated or take the invasive step of asking for their medical records. This is a much more effective and less intrusive way to be sure.

How Does it Work?

The digital certificate prototype is easy to use. On the screen of any smartphone, it displays the user’s name, photograph, when the COVID-19 vaccine was administered, and when the final shots were completed. It also shows a QR code and a four-digit pin that allow others to confirm the certificate through Vaccertify.com.

For someone to receive the digital certificate, they must complete an approved COVID-19 vaccination and submit the record, a government-issued ID, and a photo to the platform. This offers peace of mind while maintaining the strictest levels of privacy.

Vaccertify is not a government agency. The certificate is not meant for situations like boarding planes or passing through customs checkpoints. Instead, it is designed to help you go about your daily life with confidence.

When Will It Be Available?

The app is still in the prototype stage, waiting for vaccines to be released to begin a pilot program. When finalized, it will come in three pricing tiers based on the needs of the users, varying from $49.99 for seven-day delivery up to $199.99 for 24-hour delivery.

It is good to see that there is a light at the end of the tunnel when it comes to COVID-19. It is significant that technology is again helping us build the bridge to a more promising future.
