DLD College London student Charlotte Price (18), has completed her Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, achieving the prestigious accolade in only fifteen months.

Charlotte, who is also Head of School at the multi-award-winning college, has worked determinedly alongside her academic studies to progress through all three levels of the Award – Bronze, Silver and Gold.

In total, Charlotte has dedicated an impressive 200 hours volunteering at Waterloo Food Bank and as Head of School at DLD, and 150 hours respectively learning new skills and undertaking physical activities. She has amassed a remarkable range of skills including learning how to cook, knowledge of the constellations, and can play netball, hockey, badminton and rock climb.

Furthermore, she has embarked on several challenging expeditions for each award of increasing distance and time, developing her navigational and team building skills, as well as her resilience in completing these strenuous activities.

In recognition of her achievement, Charlotte will receive a much-coveted Gold badge, and will be invited to a Gold Award Presentation to receive her certificate in the presence of HRH The Earl of Wessex (Prince Edward) at a Royal Palace.

Head of the DofE programme for DLD, Houseparent Jan Haines commented, “I am delighted to see Charlotte achieve her Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award – and to be the first gold recipient through DLD’s three years as a licensed centre. Having gone through all three levels of the DofE award, Charlotte is a shining example of the type of skills and attributes the award can develop in young people. She has shown motivation and responsibility for every section, and persistence and organisation in ensuring that she saw them through to completion. It is a pleasure to congratulate her on an achievement well deserved.”
