Domino’s, world-renowned for its handmade craft of fresh pizza, is today celebrating long-serving team member Zagros Jaff, who has won the title of Domino’s European Fastest Pizza Maker for the third year running.

Zagros, the man with the midas dough-touch and Area Manager across Portsmouth and
Southampton, holds the European record and can hand-make a perfect pizza in just 27 seconds – which equates to 133 pizzas an hour.

Domino’s has rewarded the talented pizza chef with a limited-edition trophy – a solid gold cast of his magic hands. Inspired by the Hollywood Walk of Fame, the cast of the three-time, undisputed pizza making champion’s hands will glow at the Portsmouth Fratton store where he trained and perfected his craft for over 10 years.

Zagros defended his title at Domino’s annual European Fastest Pizza Maker Competition this year, which sees the upper crusts of pizza chefs from across Europe put their skills to the test. Contestants are judged on their ability to make three large 13-inch pizzas, topped with 40 slices of pepperoni, 142g of mushrooms, 198g of diced cheese and a serving of Domino’s signature tomato pizza sauce.

The judges have very strict rules on the quality of the pizza, ensuring they meet the highest standards – something Domino’s prides itself on. If a pepperoni slice is in the wrong place or the fresh dough has not been stretched to the right size, contestants are penalised by 15 seconds per error; demonstrating it’s not easy to win this coveted title!
