RaceNation Events, the event delivery arm of RaceNation has announced a partnership with EHM Legacy, the community interest company (CIC) behind West London’s biggest running event, the Ealing Half Marathon. The deal will help secure the future of Ealing’s famous half marathon along with its popular supporting events; the Ealing Mini Mile, Osterley Park 10K and the Ealing Mile.
Voted the UK’s best half marathon three years in a row, the Ealing Half Marathon is a true community race, organised by the CIC for the benefit of the community, ploughing surplus funds into local community projects.
From October, RaceNation Events will become the new event delivery operators responsible for all EHM Legacy events, sharing profits with the CIC and securing the future of the Ealing Half Marathon. RaceNation Events will also take on employment of the small team and the EHM Legacy Board members will continue as advisors and supporters of all events.
As a London 2012 legacy event and west London’s biggest run, the Ealing Half Marathon has seen tens of thousands of runners take part since 2012, raising over £2.5 million for associated charities.
This year’s Ealing Half Marathon will take place on Sunday 26th September 2021. Thousands of eager runners will take to the fully closed road circuit in a celebration of running and local community with the knowledge that the event has been safeguarded for the future.
The move comes as the next phase of expansion for RaceNation Events, looking to preserve the future of the running industry. Since launching in 2020 with the merger of Immortal Sport, the long running UK events company responsible for the Exmoor Triathlon Weekend, the Salisbury Half Marathon and Lemur Loop, RaceNation Events has also gone on to acquire the assets of Rough Runner, the game show inspired obstacle course race, famous for its Travelator and Total Wipeout simulated challenges.
Ealing Half Marathon Founder, Kelvin Walker said, “We created the Ealing Half Marathon to deliver the event day experience of the London Marathon, with the friendliness and community spirit of a parkrun. It has been a privilege to work with volunteers and the local community to build this London 2012 legacy event. Our new partnership with RaceNation Events will ensure our events keep running with community values firmly at their core.”
Will Golder, CEO of RaceNation said: “The Ealing Half has been a trusted stalwart in the racing calendar for years and we have always loved working with them. After a tough period for the mass participation industry, we are delighted to not only be looking forward to the return of events, but to be expanding our RaceNation Events portfolio with such a prestigious and well-regarded race series, while safeguarding its future. We look forward to seeing all the runners cross the finish line on the 26th September 2021 and welcoming them back again next year!”
