A London security guard who was left devastated after having to reschedule his wedding due to COVID-19 is today celebrating after winning an Audi RS6 worth £93,000, plus a life changing £50,000 in cash, thanks to dream car competition, BOTB.
Mohammed Maruf and his partner Masuma, who live in Poplar, were due to get hitched in August at the Chigwell Marquee, but were forced to reschedule due to lockdown.
“It was heartbreaking at the time, you put a lot of effort into planning a wedding and to have to move it like that was upsetting,” said Mohammed. “The venues were great with us and we were able to move everything to May next year.
“However, now we have won this £50,000, which is a life changing amount of money, we will definitely be planning something extra special and will be able to afford some more flashy suits and a more flashy car to the venue. Then we’ll be able to take a great honeymoon, I’m thinking maybe Dubai or The Maldives – we can go where we want now.”
This result will certainly go some way to keeping the soon-to-be-married couple happy, since money fights are the second leading reason for divorce.
Mohammed, 25, who most recently worked in security at Tesco, has been playing BOTB just short of a year, and has been watching YouTube videos of the Audi RS6, before playing for the car this week.
He never imagined that he would be getting the surprise call from BOTB present Christian Williams.
“It’s an absolute beast, and it’s just unbelievable that I have won it,” he said. “I was physically shaking when I got the call to say I had won.”
Christian contacts unaware winners every week to give them the good news.
“Both Mohammed and Masuma were clearly gutted to have to postpone their wedding after all the hard work organising it,” said Christian.
“However I am delighted they are now going to be able to have the wedding and honeymoon of their dreams, as well as also being able to drive around in amazing style.”
