eBay, the UK’s number one online marketplace for vehicle parts and accessories, has launched the new MOT Hub, designed to help UK motorists navigate the annual MOT test.
Sitting within My Garage, the feature is the new place for motorists to track everything MOT-related on eBay, from test date reminders to sourcing essential parts based on previous advisories and defects.
Combining registration number data from eBay’s My Garage function with DVSA MOT results data, it is able to identify the parts motorists may need. Once motorists have added their vehicle’s registration number to My Garage, notifications will remind them of upcoming MOT test dates and previous defects and advisories, making car admin easier.
For example, if a vehicle received an advisory for worn wiper blades at its last test, it will remind the owner of the defect and show listings for popular wiper blades that fit the vehicle on eBay as the next test date approaches. The MOT Hub also uses MOT failure data to support vehicle owners through retests, helping them review defects and source the correct parts needed to get their vehicle back on the road quickly.
According to analysis of DVSA data by eBay, a significant number of failures in 2025 resulted from simple issues that could be resolved, including 650,092 defective lamps and 566,272 deteriorated wiper blades, all of which could have been easily resolved ahead of a test.
