EE is teaming up with Nintendo to bring Wuhu Island to the EE Studio, Westfield, White City, giving fans an exclusive sneak peek of the hotly anticipated Nintendo Switch Sports Resort before it launches on Thursday, 22nd of October.
Reimagining the cult-classic game that turned millions of living rooms into makeshift bowling alleys and tennis courts, the new game is set to launch on Nintendo Switch 2 in October. Until 13th August, fans dropping by the EE Studio will be among the first to experience the new game before it is launched, picking up nostalgic sports like tennis, volleyball, bowling, basketball, golf, boxing and table tennis, or trying their hand at brand new additions like skateboarding, thumb wrestling or power cruising.
Nichola Chandler, Partnerships Director at EE said: “During this summer of sport, many will be looking to get in on the action, and Nintendo Sports Resort offers the perfect opportunity. We know that gamers can’t wait to experience the magic of Wuhu Island in 4K, so we’re excited to give them an exclusive first look at the EE Studio.
“As the home of gaming, EE is committed to bringing customers the very best gaming experiences, powered by the UK’s best connectivity and partnerships with some of the world’s most loved gaming brands.
“Nintendo’s sports games have brought families and friends together for years, inspiring plenty of friendly competition, from cruising around Maka Wuhu to scoring birdies on Wedge Island. We can’t wait to welcome fans and help them get ready for the October launch.”
The Nintendo takeover will continue from 14 to 16th August with multiplayer tournaments on a range of fan-favourites in the Studio’s cutting-edge Gaming Zone. Visitors will be able to step inside a Mario-themed go-kart and battle it out on Mario Kart World, or try their luck at the latest release, Star Fox, a remake of the cult classic, Star Fox 64. Winners of the tournaments, held hourly, can expect a host of exciting prizes.
Shoppers can also look forward to meeting Mario up close and personal, as he steps out of last year’s biggest gaming release, Mario Kart World, and into the EE Studio, welcoming visitors to the store, and taking photos with gamers old and new.
The takeover forms part of EE’s ongoing ambition to become the UK’s number one destination for gaming, building on a growing range of gaming experiences, partnerships and exclusive offers.
EE customers can now preorder the new Nintendo Switch 2 Sports Resort at Nintendo Switch Sports Resort™ for Nintendo Switch 2 | EE.
The EE Studio, which opened in June 2023, is the UK’s largest telco retail space, combining physical and digital experiences to guide visitors through every stage of their connected lives. The store features various experience zones, including a dedicated Gaming Zone, making it the perfect venue for the sneak preview of the new Nintendo Sports Resort Game.
