Families of deaf children from Lambeth and Southwark came together in Lambeth on Sunday 29 September, for a family day of fun and support.

Around 30 families attended the event, which took place at Lollard Street Adventure Playground in Lambeth.
The family fun day was jointly organised by the Lambeth Deaf Children’s Society and the National Deaf Children’s Society in order to bring the families of deaf children together and demonstrate the support available to them.

The theme of the family day was Looking Ahead and featured a display of artwork by the children showing what they thought they would be doing in 10 years’ time. As an added inspiration, some of the adults produced short films showing what they were doing 10 years ago.

The aim of the artwork and video exhibition was to demonstrate that there shouldn’t be any barriers to achievement and inspire the deaf children to reach for their dreams.

The day was supported by the deaf education support services in Lambeth and Southwark and parent representatives from both boroughs, as well as the National and Lambeth Deaf Children’s Societies.
