Filipino Inventor and Entrepreneur, Jeffrey T. Pimentel, is helping smartphone users worldwide to stay connected through his innovative app, Jefwifi.
Touted as ‘Free WiFi for all’, Jefwifi is a sharing WIFI app that allows iPhone, iPad and Android users to auto connect to free WIFI anywhere in the world. Unlike commercial Wi-Fi, there is no need to enter a password. Instead, users can safely and securely access the app’s service with a Google or Facebook login.
Inspired by Japan’s Technology and his ideas for innovation, Pimentel moved to the country 20 years ago. His JefWifi app started out as a dream of sharing Wifi but has blossomed into a global phenomenon. Tech giant, Google, also uses Jefwifi, which Pimentel underscores as his proudest achievement to date.
Undoubtedly, Jefwifi is one of the most ubiquitous invention to come out of the Tech capital. Needless to say, Pimentel’s contribution to the tech world has not gone unnoticed. When asked about his motivation for creating the Jefwifi app. Pimentel said: “I want smartphone users to interact more openly.” But it’s not just about helping people staying connected. As a tech innovator, privacy is paramount for Pimentel. He said: “I want to protect everyone including foreign visitors to Japan to connect their devices to a highly secure network.” That means visitors to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics will be able to stay in touch with friends and family without paying extra for wifi.”
