Richmond and football legend Harry Redknapp are on a mission to find the nation’s favourite football fans – and celebrate the fans most dedicated to their local team with a match-day to remember.
Richmond Sausages has launched the search – with support from Redknapp and sports presenter, Hayley McQueen – after research found that over half of Brits believe that football is the sport that unites us the most as a nation.
Harry Redknapp, said of the campaign: “Local teams are often very reliant on the community around them, and they truly act as their ‘twelfth man’.
“Most of the time it’s the teams on the pitch getting the glory – but we want to reward those people who stand on the side-lines, win or lose, cheering on their team. After all, football is nothing without the fans!”
A national poll to launch the campaign has lifted the lid on what Brits feel brings them together as a nation – with 45% saying that watching sports helps them bond with their family and community. Half also believe football has the biggest impact in terms of creating happiness within the community.
Dawn Spencer, Marketing & Category Director, Richmond, said: “At Richmond we’re on a mission to celebrate all of the nation’s favourite things – the simple things that make us all feel good.
“Football is the Nation’s Favourite sport and through our research we have discovered that local football clubs are often the heart of the local community. Come rain or shine their fans and supporters are always on the side-lines, so we thought it was time someone celebrated them!”
The campaign is open to the nation and the lucky winning fans will be treated to an epic day to remember, to say thank you for their continued support for their local team.
