Former professional rugby player turned business owner, George Kruis, has been awarded an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Hertfordshire in recognition of his service to Sports and Business.

George studied a BA in Business Administration while playing professional rugby for Sacarens, and graduated with a first class honours in 2014, before his most recent award.

He retired from professional rugby in June 2022, having spent the last two years playing for Japanese club Panasonic Wild Knights. George achieved forty-five England caps during his career, including two World Cups and the 2017 British and Irish Lions tour.

In 2018, George co-founded the wellness company fourfive, based in St Albans alongside former Welsh international rugby player Dom Day. The company was created to bring premium, top quality and trusted health supplements to the market.

In recognition of his award, George said: “I want to say a huge thank you to the University of Hertfordshire for enabling me to hold up my degree whilst at Saracens Group. I had a majorly heavy schedule but the faculty really went above and beyond to accommodate that. My studies also sparked my passion for business off-field which played a massive role in the creation of fourfive.

“Looking ahead to the future, I want to focus on growing fourfive as a business and growing personally from a successful athlete to successful business person – collecting lots of experiences and memories along the way.”
