Come to Castle Square and join The People’s Company who are hosting FREE animated walking tours this May, brought together by the Elephant and Castle Town Centre team, which bring to life the amazing history of Elephant and Castle in London’s SE1.
Following the success of the animated walking tours in Elephant and Castle in October, members of the community will once again be able to take advantage of a unique opportunity to learn about the rich and diverse history and heritage of Elephant and Castle.
Visitors and locals alike can expect a host of music, performers and a dance workshop performed by Yuripari dance group during the tour stops, and actors will bring to life famous local characters and fascinating stories as community members embark on a journey of the history of the local area. Discover Charles Babbabgem, the inventor of the first computer, and find out about the civic history of the Old Town Hall. The fascinating history of the health centre on the Walworth Road will also be delved into, along with the amazing diverse communities and cultures which have called Elephant and Castle its home over the centuries.
At the end of the tour there will also be exciting offers and tastes from Castle Square’s food traders. A fun quiz and prizes are also on offer to exchange throughout a selection of the traders at Castle Square and Ash Avenue.
Date: Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th May
Time: 1pm – 2:30pm or 3pm – 4:30 pm
Tours can be booked for FREE via Eventbrite: https://freetourselephant.eventbrite.co.uk
