Pharmacy2U, the UK’s largest online pharmacy, is bringing its free drive-through flu vaccination clinic to Walthamstow, following a successful trial, to further support and protect people this winter.

This winter it’s more important than ever for people to protect themselves from flu as the head of the NHS warns that if you contract coronavirus and flu at the same time, you are twice as likely to die as a result of coronavirus than you would otherwise.*

The clinic will be open at Peter May Sports Centre, 135 Wadham Rd, Walthamstow, London E17 4HR from Monday 7th December – Thursday 10th December from 9:30am – 4pm.

The appointments, bookable by both existing and new Pharmacy2U patients on Pharmacy2U’s website, will be carried out by our team of expert pharmacists, with trained St John Ambulance first aiders providing support at the drive through centre. All team members will be wearing the appropriate PPE and conform to the highest NHS and COVID-19 standards.

Phil Day, superintendent pharmacist at Pharmacy2U, comments: “As we enter what could be a difficult winter for many, this is a much-needed service for people up and down the country. In a year that’s seen much devastating health news, we’ve worked extremely hard behind the scenes and through our partnership with St John Ambulance to be able to bring this offering to fruition to help our existing and new patients, and to help alleviate pressure from the NHS.”

Graham Ellis, Community Operations Manager for St John Ambulance comments: “St John Ambulance is proud to partner with Pharmacy2U in providing this vital service. Our treatment centres and fully trained first aiders will be supporting pharmacists to give patients their all-important flu jab, close to home and in a COVID secure setting. Helping to maintain the health resilience of our communities is at the heart of what we do, and even more important as we face a tougher than usual winter.”

Since lockdown was first enforced in March this year, Pharmacy2U has helped patients avoid over three million trips outdoors by safely delivering over eight million medicines directly to their door, helping to alleviate pressure from the NHS when it matters most. Pharmacy2U also offers the NHS ‘New Medicine Service’, providing free telephone advice from our pharmacists to help patients understand their condition and get the most out of their new medicine.

Flu vaccinations will be available for free for patients that meet the NHS eligibility requirements, and additionally offered at an affordable rate for anyone else.
