Free holiday meals and family fun this October half term

During the October half term, children can pick up a free packed lunch from libraries and adventure play centres across Royal Greenwich.

From Monday 23 to Friday 27 October, any child can pick up free holiday meals from sites across the borough. There are no forms or fuss – simply turn up, tuck in and enjoy.

Cllr Matt Morrow, Cabinet Member for Children and Young People, said: “No child should go hungry just because they’re not in school, so we’re pleased to be able to provide free holiday meals again this October half-term.

The Royal Borough of Greenwich is committed to providing support for families and children who may be struggling financially. Schemes like free holiday meals are needed now more than ever due to the unsettling cost of living crisis we’re currently going through and is part of the Council’s effort to tackle child food poverty.”

Local libraries will be hosting a range of creative activities for children to get involved with, allowing parents to take a breather during the school holidays. Why not try spooky biscuit decorating at Charlton House Library, Lego Robotics at the Woolwich Centre Library, or a Messy Morning craft session at any of our libraries? See your local library’s full schedule at better.org.uk/library/london/greenwich.

Better leisure centres also have a full schedule of fun affordable activities, from family fun swimming to gymnastics short courses, there’s something to keep the whole family entertained this half term. Find out more on the Better website.

Holiday Meals are commissioned by the Council, delivered by Greenwich Co-operative Development Agency (GCDA), and supported by Greenwich Leisure Limited (GLL).
