The Friends of Alexandra Park, alongside the Alexandra Park and Palace Charitable Trust, is launching a crowdfunding appeal to raise £10,000 for a brand-new boardwalk through London’s Alexandra Park wetlands area, improving accessibility and enabling more visitors to experience one of the Park’s most important wildlife habitats.
Launching on Monday 11 May 2026, the campaign will support the creation of an accessible route through the wetlands in the south-east corner of the park, opening access to the birdwatching platform, locally known as Bruce’s Platform, for people of all ages and abilities.
The Friends of Alexandra Park group hopes to reach its £10,000 target by Monday 15 June 2026. All public donations made during the campaign period will be match funded, where every £1.00 donated becomes £2.00.
The boardwalk project forms part of the Park’s wider wetlands and rewilding programme, which aims to create healthier habitats for birds, amphibians, insects, aquatic wildlife and native plants, while helping improve water management and reduce flooding in the park. Earlier phases of the wetlands project received support from the Mayor of London’s Rewild London Fund as part of a longer-term vision for the ongoing future development of the wetlands area.

“As we celebrate 20 years of the Friends of Alexandra Park, we are proud to mark this milestone by fundraising for a lasting community project that people can enjoy for generations to come. Every pound raised will help fund another plank on the boardwalk and bring us one step closer to creating a more inclusive and welcoming wetlands experience for everyone.”

The Friends of Alexandra Park is inviting residents, park users and supporters of local green spaces to contribute to the campaign and help create a lasting legacy for future generations.
