FESTIVITIES were in full swing as residents of SW6 enjoyed live music, street entertainment, children’s workshops and pop-up eateries and market stalls that lined this iconic street during the annual Summer Festival.
Organised by Hammersmith and Fulham Borough Council, revellers savoured the party atmosphere and entertainment which has become part of the summer season, helping to revitalise the high street.
Supporting the festivities were members of the Specsavers Fulham team who gave visitors hints and tips on caring for their sight and hearing, as well as undertaking basic sight tests using a reading chart.
Tote bags containing pens, key chains, voucher offers and water bottles were also handed out to families and residents, including raising awareness around myopia in children and suggestions around reducing screen time.
Nimesh Modi, optometrist director at Specsavers Fulham, said: ‘We were delighted to take part in this annual event which brings everyone together. It’s a great way to celebrate summer and the community spirit of North End Road.
‘It was a good turnout, with customers and their families visiting our stand to say hello to the team. It’s also a great opportunity to meet other local businesses and network with them too.’
Despite the sizzling temperatures visitors enjoyed listening to headline vintage cabaret act, The Satin Dollz, while enjoying the vibrant atmosphere and browsing artisan stalls and savouring street food from around the world.
The in-store team donned their favourite football shirts as a nod to the World Cup, while raising money via a lucky dip for the Venezuela Earthquake Appeal, with the winner receiving a free pair of sunglasses.
Specsavers Fulham works closely with local GPs who refer patients to them, particularly as the team offers a Minor Eye Condition Service (MECS), providing enhanced services in eye care such as the management of red eyes and dry eyes, flashes and floaters. Contact lens support is also available.
