Gemma Chan has been appointed as UNICEF UK’s latest celebrity ambassador, supporting the charity’s advocacy and fundraising work.
The Crazy Rich Asians star, who began backing UNICEF in 2015, has visited Jamaica with the charity to explore its work curbing violence, and commented ‘I learned that almost 80% of children witness or experience violence in their homes or communities and many are traumatised as a result… I felt so welcome in this beautiful country, but the level of violence children are exposed to here is shocking’.
Unicef UK Ambassadors promote Unicef’s work within the UK, and often globally. They have shown a commitment to Unicef through continued and consistent support over a number of years.
