We recently had an interview celebrity DJ “Fabrejay”

Q. Thank you so much for joining us! Can you tell us a story about what brought you to this specific career path?

A. Thanks for having me here. Arriving from a musical family, I was surrounded by music all of the time. I remember tuning in to radio stations practically all day waiting for my favorite songs to play so that I could record them on a cassette tape. I would listen to those tapes for hours!

It was then when I stumbled on radio mix show DJs and became fascinated with the art. From scratching (DJ term) to their playlist curation, it conveyed a new color on how I perceived these songs sonically. It seemed fun and brought happiness to me.

DJ Mixtapes where a hot ticket in the streets. Somehow at school we would get our hands on them. We would trade, borrow and even sell them to each other. Eventually I would duplicate my tapes, draw cover art with my then name “Dj Royal Jeff” and sell them to my peers at school. This would be the setup for me becoming a DJ.

Q. Which tips would you recommend to your colleagues in your industry to help them to thrive and not “burn out”?

A. Stay humble, be consistent, network, have a clear vision of what it is you want out of it and if you’re not 100% sure it’s ok, it’ll come to you at the proper time, but you must take initiative and pretty much treat it like a marathon.

Q. How have you used your success to bring goodness to the world?

A. By spreading LOVE. We need more love it’s really that simple.

Q. Do you have a favorite “Life Lesson Quote”? Can you share a story of how that was relevant to you in your life?

One of my favorite “LLQ’s” is: “If you love life, don’t waste time, for time is what life is made up of.” – Bruce Lee

My lifestyle is so fast pace, always on go. I can definitely relate to not wanting to waste a second. Lol
