Giant Christmas tree light switch on coming to Castle Square and FREE festive entertainment for all the family in November

Begin celebrating Christmas early at Castle Square with a festive Christmas tree light switch on in Zone 1’s, Elephant and Castle.

Join us on Friday 24th November from 3:30pm -7:30pm where you can celebrate the switching on of the Castle Square Christmas lights by the Mayor of Southwark as well as an afternoon filled with live music, carols, food, and special guests!

It wouldn’t be Christmas without Santa, and Castle Square will be home to Santa’s Grotto, where Londoners can visit Santa and his elves! Guests can send their Christmas lists off to the North Pole in Santa’s Post Box or tell Santa ahead of the big day why they should be on the nice list. Guests can also collect free gift vouchers and exchange for hot chocolate and non-alcoholic mulled wine, to warm you up on this cold winter’s evening.

Spreading the festive cheer, Castle Square will be buzzing with free entertainment across the square. Christmas carols will be sung by the Elephant and CastleCommunity Hub Choir and guests can choose to listen or join in as they sing their favourite carols before the Christmas tree lights are turned on. The Southwark Brass Band will also be performing, filling the Square with joy.

Visitors will not want to miss the main event as the Mayor of Southwark will be switching on the Giant Christmas Tree and Castle Square lights from 5:00pm. CastleSquare will be transformed with the festivities as guests can kick off the festive season early with the local community.
