Continuing to celebrate their 20th anniversary year, UK’s most famous, shameless pop club night Guilty Pleasures is back at at their spiritual home KOKO London on Saturday 11th May for another Daytime Disco!

Catering to veteran party-goers and promising to get ravers home and in bed by 10pm, Guilty Pleasures Daytime Disco will have all the usual thrills and spills associated with the party: huge pop anthems from the 80s-00s, a room devoted to sing-a-long power ballads and pop divas, country music bangers, balloon drops and dance squads.

Special guests include The Beyonce Experience, a viral smash on Britain’s Got Talent, The LipSinkers, London’s ultimate lip syncing drag cabaret, and the sexy, funny, enraptured burlesque of Shotgun Carousel.

Not only this, expect a Power Ballads Lounge, Pop Diva’s Disco (think Kylie, Madonna, Mariah & Cher), Guilty Country (think Dolly, Swifty and Shania) and Giant Balloon Drops aplenty with the outdoor sun terrace open all day for that well deserved disco break.

The appetite for Guilty Pleasures is as fervent and shameless as ever. Back in February of this year, Sean Rowley & co returned to KOKO for their first Daytime Disco, which sold out a month in advance.

Before Abba became cool (again), before DJ’s played Queen in clubs (without irony) & before Toto’s ‘Africa’ notched up over a BILLION streams – there was the Guilty Pleasures club night.

Guilty Pleasures was conceived in 2004 by DJ, radio & TV presenter, Sean Rowley as a slot within his weekly show on BBC Radio London, reclaiming songs that he viewed as slightly shameful to love but were genius nonetheless.

The concept took off and Sean was approached by Sony to put together a CD compilation. Upon release the phrase ‘Guilty Pleasures’ was leapt on by the media with its usage covering every facet of popular culture.

The club night was also born out of a frustration for boring soulless “super” clubs that dominated the culture, took their mission to take back control and put the ‘fun’ back into nightlife across the UK.

Each night saw DJs, dance troupes, live bands, cabaret performers and drag queens propel the crowd to a heightened state of pop frenzy. They even had a Guilty Pleasures confessional booth with people revealing their personal guilty pleasures to a shameless priest.

They featured an array of diverse guest DJ’s over the years ranging from Sophie Ellis Bextor, Jarvis Cocker (Pulp), Davina McCall, Terry Hall (The Specials), St. Etienne and Sarah Cox to name but a few.

The Guilty Pleasures club night quickly became a phenomenon, running a monthly residency at KOKO for over 15 years & in cities across the UK, and saw them headlining festival stages at Glastonbury, Latitude, Wilderness, Mighty Hoopla, Bestival, Edinburgh Festival & Adelaide Fringe. They opened for pop legends Take That and Elton John, were the first act to play the new Wembley Stadium as support to George Michael, and they’ve even taken the experience to such far flung pop outposts as Abu Dhabi & Australia.

Now Sean and the Guilty gang are back at KOKO for another very special Daytime Disco to celebrate the 20th birthday of this party institution. Expect another sell-out show, so get your tickets while you still can!
