Hammersmith, Fulham, Ealing, and Hounslow Mind are pleased to announce several new services for 2022.

The first is the new Safe Space Emergency Department service. When someone experiences a mental health crisis, they often go to A&E, where they may not be able to get the specialist help they need.

HFEH Mind’s Safe Space service provides an alternative to A&E, a place where people can go for advice, support, or just to talk, in a less pressurised environment. Almost three quarters (74%) of visitors reported a reduction in crisis levels on day one after the visit. Thanks to the service, 97% of visitors avoided going to A&E. Overall, 96% of visitors said they would recommend Safe Space.

Thanks to the success of the original Safe Space program, HFEH Mind has now been commissioned to open Safe Spaces directly in three hospitals across West London: Charing Cross Hospital, St Bernard’s Hospital, or West Middlesex Hospital, meaning anyone who does go to A&E will be able to access mental health support from specialists.

The patient is then stepped down to HFEH Mind’s Safe Space Community Team for on-going support. The purpose behind the service is to reduce visits to A&E for mental health.

Know My Mind is a new psychoeducation service, delivered both in group and bespoke 1:1 sessions designed to improve mental health literacy, increase self-awareness and the ability to self-regulate emotions, and learn how external factors such as drugs and alcohol can affect our mental health.

Clear Your Mind is a new hoarding support service helps people in Hounslow manage their behaviour. Developed in partnership with Hounslow Housing, Clear Your Mind will run a 12-week psychoeducation programme around hoarding, as well as an ongoing monthly peer support group.

Dual Diagnosis Support Group is a new monthly support group for those supporting people with a dual diagnosis of a mental health and alcohol or drug issue, delivered in partnership with Ealing Rise.

Wellbeing West London Directory is a new website directory for mental health services, built in partnership with the West London NHS Trust, allowing people throughout West London to find mental health services near them.
