Hammersmith has gone a bit Swedish!

Residents of Hammersmith have been treated this week to a classic British tradition, with a Swedish twist – as a Swedish ‘Mjölkkärra’ (that’s milk float in Swedish!) made its way around the streets, delivering treats to the community.

The ”Mjölkkärra’ is promoting the upcoming launch of ‘Livat Hammersmith’ – the new and improved Kings Mall, which is set to celebrate its Grand Opening on 24th February. Livat’s bright yellow flyta has been travelling round the local area throughout the past week, delivering a little taste of Sweden to the people of Hammersmith.

Residents had a host of treats from Livat and IKEA delivered right to their door – including delicious biscuits and coffee from IKEA, to wet their taste buds ahead of the launch of the new IKEA Swedish deli, as well as various product samples and vouchers from other Livat tenants.

Livat Hammersmith will provide the people of Hammersmith with a vibrant new meeting place; a space where they can come together to not only shop but eat, relax, have fun and spend time together. The community will benefit from a brand new IKEA store – the brand’s first ever small-format store on the UK high street – as well as a totally refreshed IKEA Food offering called the Swedish Deli, serving authentic and traditional Swedish delicacies available to dine-in and takeaway.

Alongside many of the much-loved stores of the original Kings Mall, Livat Hammersmith also will feature a host of exciting new brands such as Alma Cafe as well as Sook, a unique new adaptive retail space. A ‘Library of Things’ will also be opening later in April, a community-powered enterprise that helps people save money and reduce waste by affordably renting out useful household items like carpet cleaners, drills, sound systems and sewing machines for a few pounds per day.

For those who want to take a break and relax, the newly refurbished atrium stairs provide a place to put your feet up and enjoy time with friends and family, whilst the refurbished podium in Ashcroft Square creates a better space for residents to enjoy.

Natalia Petalina, Meeting Place Manager at Livat Hammersmith commented: “At Livat, we believe that excitement is best enjoyed shared, and that’s why we wanted to share a little taste of what’s to come with our new neighbours. The needs of the local community have been at the heart of everything we have done throughout our journey to transform the Kings Mall, and we can’t wait to welcome residents and visitors alike to their new-look meeting place.”

To celebrate the Grand Opening of Livat Hammersmith, a series of free events and activities will be taking place within the meeting place every day from 24th – 27th February for the local community to enjoy and have fun.
