Hampstead Court Care Home helped make Christmas extra special as Good Morning Britain’s annual “1 Million Minutes” campaign smashed its record with over 210 million minutes pledged.
During a special Good Morning Britain broadcast, the care home, which is part of Avery Healthcare, was at the heart of the magical Christmas moment.
The “1 Million Minutes” campaign encourages people across the UK to dedicate time to others, especially those who may be isolated or lonely at Christmas.
The initiative has inspired millions to pledge their time to bring joy, provide support, and connect with loved ones or strangers during the festive season and beyond.
Hampstead Court Care Home played a key role in helping the campaign smash its record, surpassing 200 million minutes pledged, breaking the previous record of 166 million set in 2021.
The Christmas spirit was enjoyed by all at Hampstead Court Care Home, located in Greater London, as DJ AG, Time Out’s DJ of the Year, brought joy to residents with a live performance of their favourite tunes.
With music filling the air, residents sang and relished the festive fun. James and Sally, who have been married for 66 years, both live at Hampstead Court Care Home.
James shared fond memories of his life with Sally, who lives with dementia. Together, they enjoyed the Christmas celebrations and reminiscing about their long life together.
DJ AG, whose grandmother lived with dementia, shared how music creates beautiful moments of connection for those living with the condition.
Good Morning Britain presenter Kate Garraway also joined the celebration, spending time with residents and talking about the power of togetherness, especially at Christmas.
DJ AG spent time with Sally and shared his thoughts on the day, saying, “Music is so powerful, so as soon as you play a song that they know, they can sing it word for word, and to give them that joy, it’s priceless.”
Similarly, when reflecting on Sally’s experience, Kate Garraway observed, “You could tell when you saw them that she was transported back. She started talking about loving dancing, loving music, in a way that she hadn’t really reacted before in that session, which was incredible.”
Sonia Kasese, Home Manager at Hampstead Court Care Home, said: “It was truly magical to be part of this Christmas celebration. The joy on our residents’ faces as they sang and danced with DJ AG was priceless.”
“We’re so proud to support the ‘1 Million Minutes’ campaign and to be part of such a moving moment this Christmas.”
“At Hampstead Court, creating connections is what we do best, and it’s wonderful to see that reflected in such a special way.”
Hampstead Court Care Home is proud to have contributed to this record-breaking achievement, celebrating the power of community, connection, and kindness at Christmas.
