JD Gyms has completed a full renovation of the gym at Gladesmore Community School in Haringey, creating a modern, accessible space designed not only to encourage students to lead healthier, more active lives, but also to support their mental wellbeing in a purposeful environment where young people can build confidence and thrive.

The transformation has seen JD Gyms redesign and refurbish the school’s gym space, installing brand-new fitness equipment and creating a space that reflects the quality, energy and training environment found across its award-winning gym estate. The newly renovated gym will provide students with enhanced opportunities to improve their physical and mental wellbeing, develop healthy habits, channel energy positively and build confidence through exercise.

The investment reflects a shared belief between JD Gyms and Gladesmore Community School that access to high-quality facilities can play an important role in supporting young people’s wellbeing, behaviour and engagement in school life.

The project was inspired by broadcaster, educator and community advocate Mehreen Baig, who worked alongside Gladesmore Community School and JD Gyms to help bring the vision to life. Students, school leaders and JD Gyms representatives gathered for a special launch event to celebrate the opening of the transformed facility.

As part of the celebrations, students were invited to experience the new gym through trainer-led fitness sessions, with JD Gyms team members on hand to provide coaching, encouragement and practical fitness advice.

Mehreen Baig, broadcaster, educator and community advocate, said, “This renovation will make a genuine difference to the lives of young people at Gladesmore. It’s fantastic to see JD Gyms investing in the next generation and leaving a lasting legacy for the school and wider community.”

James Wilks, Assistant Headteacher at Gladesmore Community School, reveals, “This project provides our students with a positive space where they can focus on their wellbeing, build confidence and develop healthy habits that will benefit them both inside and outside the classroom. We are incredibly grateful to JD Gyms and Mehreen for helping bring this vision to life and creating a facility that will have a lasting impact on our school community.”

By transforming the school’s fitness facilities, JD Gyms hopes to create opportunities that extend well beyond physical activity. The new gym will provide students with a positive outlet, a safe environment to develop confidence and a space that supports their wellbeing and personal development for years to come. It is an investment in young people and in the future of the wider community they help shape.
