Bodycare joins the 17 & Central family of retailers with a new store in a prime location next to TK Maxx. The household name opened its doors on 1 June just in time for summer.

Bodycare’s CEO, Tony Brown commented: “We are delighted to be opening in Walthamstow. I personally have been involved with a number of retail businesses in the centre over many years and have always found it to be a beacon of not only great shopping, but a community hub for the area. The people in Walthamstow are a fantastic community we very much look forward to serving them.”

The company was launched in 1970 by Graham and Margaret Blackledge on a market stall in Skelmersdale, Lancashire and has been serving customers for more than 50 years. Bodycare now has more than 130 stores across the UK and is passionate about delivering quality brands, both big and small at great prices.

As well as beauty products, make-up and fragrances, it stocks a huge range of toiletries and household essentials and takes pride in delivering brands at affordable prices as Tony explains: “We check every line we sell to make sure we are at least 10% below our competitors. We know that in these difficult times our customers want choice, so we offer real quality and value-for-money alternatives to the big brands.”

Speaking of the company’s decision to open in Walthamstow, Tony adds: “Our stores are mainly situated in the North, and we have been looking for our first London store for a long time. Walthamstow meets all our requirements of a large local population, which focuses on supporting local businesses.”

It’s good news for job seekers too – Bodycare will only be recruiting local people to work in the new store.

Gavin Cockayne, general manager for 17 & Central said: “We are thrilled to welcome Bodycare to the shopping centre and have no doubt that the store is going to be an extremely popular addition to our list of retailers.”
