Hellmann’s offers FREE Coronation sarnies from one of London’s oldest caffs to celebrate the King’s Coronation

With Britain’s new King Charles ready to be crowned in May, Hellmann’s has joined forces with one of London’s most loved café, E. Pellicci’s, and caff frequenter Shaun Williamson – best known as Barry Evans from Eastenders fame – to dish out free Coronation sarnies to royal revellers on Saturday 6th May.

A lot may have changed since the last coronation in 1953, however there is one place that has remained true to its roots – the humble caff. This cultural institution has continued to stay classic and fantastic, from food to interiors.

Café royalty E. Pellicci’s – which is a Grade II listed building – has been serving its local community for over a century. One may not Adam and Eve it, but E. Pellicci’s opened in 1900, and the iconic London institution is on track to see its third monarch. What better way to celebrate than with a Royal evolution of the classic café fare.

To celebrate, Hellmann’s is inviting Londoners to get their teeth stuck into their modern take on a royally good Coronation sarnie, with Hank Marvin Londoners able to receive their free sandwich from 11AM, on a first come, first served basis.

For the Coronation weekend celebrations only, the classic Coronation sandwich will get a modern twist by the esteemed team at E. Pellicci’s, where two sarnie options will be served – both paying homage to the traditional Coronation flavour:

For meat eaters, a ciabatta packed with a crispy chicken escalope, and a tangy dollop of Hellmann’s Coronation Mayo coleslaw
Veggies fear not, a version with mixed roasted vegetables and a serving of the Hellmann’s Coronation Mayo coleslaw will also be available

Rachel Chambers, Senior Marketing Manager at Hellmann’s said: “We knew that E. Pellicci’s were the perfect partner to welcome in the Coronation celebrations of the new King, being an iconic British institution and caff royalty in their own right. E. Pellicci’s has created a delicious twist on the classic Coronation sarnie using our Coronation mayo, keeping hungry Brits fed as they celebrate the new King over the celebratory weekend.”

Anna Sereno, Co-owner of E. Pellicci’s said: “I couldn’t be more excited to be teaming up with Hellmann’s to celebrate the King’s Coronation. As a family, we have a huge connection to the royal family – our Dad was even born on the same year as Queen Elizabeth II! Our lovely café has been running since 1900 and we’ve celebrated the Queen’s Coronation and Jubilees, so we thought, what better way to celebrate the new reign of King Charles than to giveaway our Coronation sarnies with Hellmann’s.”

Actor and personality, Shaun Williamson, said: “Caffs, Sarnies and the nation’s most-loved mayonnaise – Hellmann’s? What a perfect combination to celebrate the Coronation of King’s Charles III.”

Hellmann’s and E. Pellicci’s is inviting those celebrating the King’s Coronation to come along and grab themselves a sarnie fit for a King! The sarnies will be available on a first come, first served basis, and while stocks last. And for those looking for an (even quicker) Coronation fix, this weekend and beyond, try Hellmann’s Coronation Mayo, available in Iceland and Morrisons. A modern squeeze on the traditional recipe, enjoy in sarnies, or as a dip.
