Hilton London Bankside has been bestowed with ‘Highly Commended’ as an acknowledgement by the Institute of Hospitality Awards in its ‘Best Graduate Scheme’ category. The Awards celebrate the very best in people development and rewards organisations that are using inspiring methods to attract and retain engaged and enthusiastic teams.

Hilton London Bankside was the only single hotel to be shortlisted for the award amongst a selection of chains – an achievement in itself. The accolade acknowledges the hotel’s efforts to incorporate collaborative schemes into its overall business strategy – both to encourage youngsters into the hospitality industry and to ensure the longevity of their futures.

More specifically, Hilton Bankside’s graduate scheme involves hands on activities, designed to create a robust understanding of how to run a luxury hotel. The tailor-made scheme focuses on trainees’ strengths and interests – particularly in the final months.

Last night more than 320 hospitality professionals congregated for the acclaimed Institute of Hospitality Awards, which was held at The Waldorf Hilton in London. The best and brightest of the industry were pitted against one another for top titles in categories including: Best Student Placement of the Year, Talent Development Team of the Year and Best Graduate Scheme of the Year. Judges this year were Bev King, CEO, Z Hotels, Ama Ampofo FIH, Hospitality Consultant and Howard Field FIH, Consultant.

James B Clarke, General Manager at Hilton London Bankside comments: “The fact that Hilton Bankside’s Graduate Scheme has garnered such high recognition at the Institute of Hospitality Awards fills me with tremendous pride. The initiative was set up to give young and local talent a step up and a platform in which to shine.

Quite often, gifted individuals are overlooked due to lack of opportunity. We wish to quash this cycle and nurture each staff member that we employ through carefully constructed training schemes, along with benefits that will ultimately lead to a successful future in the hospitality industry.”

Hilton London Bankside has recently amplified its community efforts, building on an extensive local programme of activity to build recognition of the Hilton brand in the vibrant area of Bankside. Aside from its most recent accolade, the hotel was also recently presented with the Special Recognition Award from Living Bankside for its commitment to Bankside and the Borough Community following a series of community initiatives.
