The LETTA multi-academy trust in east London hosted the Department for Education’s new Regional Director for the capital this week to showcase the trust’s work to improve outcomes for all children in the local community.
Dr Vanessa Ogden CBE, who started her role as Regional Director for London in April, visited Stebon Primary School to witness first-hand how targeted support and inclusive practice championed by LETTA is helping pupils to flourish.
During the visit, discussions centred on several key areas including support for pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), improving attendance, strengthening Early Years provision and raising outcomes for children living in areas of high deprivation.
As part of the visit, Dr Ogden had a tour of the inclusion base at Stebon Primary School and heard how tailored approaches are being used to support children’s individual needs and remove barriers to learning.
Following this, the Regional Director met with staff from across the trust to hear more about the strategies being used across its five schools to ensure every child receives the support, opportunities and high-quality education they deserve, regardless of their background.
School improvement and professional development were also discussed.
Dr Ogden, who took up the role of Regional Director for London last month, is a nationally recognised education leader committed to delivering educational quality across inner city London and other urban and rural contexts.
Jeremy Iver, the current Headteacher at Stebon Primary School, said: “We very much enjoyed the opportunity to welcome Dr Ogden to Stebon and show her the wonderful work taking place here.
“It was a pleasure to share the achievements of our pupils, the dedication of our staff and the positive learning environment that we strive to create every day.
“We were particularly proud to share our inclusion base and highlight the inclusive culture and support that are central to our vision for every child’s success.”
