Gareth Boyd is the Managing Director of Boyd Hampers. In the beginning, it started by selling fruit baskets which has expanded into gift hampers featuring food, wine, biscuits, beer and cheeses.

In this interview, Gareth Boyd discusses his business journey. He also talks about his mission, marketing strategies, initial working experience, core values, recruitments, advice for young entrepreneurs, challenges faced, and success.

Can you tell us about your journey into the world of e-commerce? What inspired you to start your online businesses?

My journey into the world of e-commerce began at around 12 years old, back in 2003. I have always been fascinated by technology and have seen the potential of making money online. My initial inspiration came from wanting to earn money independently and learn valuable entrepreneurial skills.

My brother, Andrew, had always been building websites and ecommerce stores.

We sold a tonne of Irish tea to Americans in the early 2000s with our site Boyds of Ireland.

What have you done to differentiate your online stores and websites from the competition?

In the highly competitive gifting niche, differentiation is paramount. I’ve employed several strategies, including focusing on niche markets, offering unique products, and providing exceptional customer service to set my online stores and websites apart.
