The Royal Opera House injects some culture into your Sunday nights with ROH Late, on Sunday 16 June from 6 to 9pm.
This culture-packed evening will enliven your summer night with exclusive live performances, music, dance, craft demonstrations and hip hop-led pub quizzes inspired by opera and ballet.
Cultural treats at ROH Late include the premier of Stretched, a 30-minute immersive sound composition which will re-invent an aria from Puccini’s Tosca, stretching the music to create a new sound journey for curious music fans. Billy Budd re-imagined, a short and immersive adaptation of Britten’s opera will later offer an interactive introduction to the opera. Pop-up dance performances will bring the spaces to life including from Joseph Toonga and Ricardo Da Silva of Just Us Dance Theatre who will perform Its Between Us, a hip-hop work inspired by experiences of friendship and struggle.
From the iconic Paul Hamlyn Hall to the new Linbury foyer, the whole building will buzz with creative energy. Inspired by British Flower Week, upcycling workshops led by artist Tracey Bush will be themed around summer flowers and headdresses alongside quizzes run by hip-hop artist Hakeem Onibudo.
ROH Late takes place on Sunday 16 June 2019, from 6 to 9pm, is open to over-18s only and costs £8 per person: https://www.roh.org.uk/events/xmny9
