There is no doubt that Sam Fender was the biggest solo artist in the UK in 2021 as he released his second album to great acclaim. There feels like there is nothing that can stop him from replicating that success in 2022 and he already has in the first part of the year!
Sam Fender
The singer-songwriter is from Newcastle, North Sheilds to be more precise, and it is well known that he has a massive affiliation for his hometown as his saxophone player can often be seen donning the colours of Newcastle United when they play live; he will be looking at new betting sites in UK when Newcastle play West Ham this weekend.
Having released two albums already, Fender has been able to tour these two albums at some of the best venues and festivals around the world. His first album Hypersonic Missiles was greeted with amazing plaudits but his second album Seventeen Going Under blew the socks off his debut album.
This put Fender even more on the map than it had ever done before. With main stage performances and an excellent UK tour. His song Get You Down even featured on FIFA 22.
2022
So far Fender has been able to still release one more song off the album. In April, Getting Started was released to the public and that kept the album going into the new year and it truly is a sensational song that summed up Fender’s tough upbringing.
However, he had not finished touring the UK in 2022 and played to sell-out crowds across Great Britain with people eagerly wanting to get a sight of the sensation. His final UK performance was in Manchester and thousands packed into the Castlefield Bowl with Fender putting on a show to remember.
Tickets to Fender’s gigs sell out immediately and if you see them on a resale site they are often way overpriced or they sell out within seconds if they are sold at face value.
However, people were able to see Fender on their screens this year after two mesmerising performances at the two festivals that the BBC showed. First, there was his Glastonburyperformance that many considered to be the best at the festival, and with the likes of Sir Paul McCartney playing that is some accolade. Then came his headline act from the TRNSMT festival in Glasgow that shows some of the best indie artists around; Fender was head and shoulders above the rest.
Taking on America
Fender ventured to America after finishing with the UK and although he may not be as popular over there yet, he still drew in big crowds at certain venues.
America is a tough nut to crack but Fender has certainly got the ability to crack it.
