The world is undergoing turbulent times, with the aftereffects of the COVID-19 pandemic still visible and looming large in the form of an expected recession. Statistically, 2022 has been one of the worst years in the financial stature of global economies. With central banks worldwide increasing interest rates in response to inflation, the world also continues to suffer from a series of natural disastersthat are likely to increase in the future on account of global warming. In such trying times, humanity has to stick together and work collectively. However, Brad Pitt seems indifferent not only to the demands of the current situation but also to the plight of those who looked up to him in times of distress.
The Fight Club actor has been in the spotlight for almost three decades. Brad Pitt lives his life on his terms, from dating some of the most beautiful women on earth to becoming a global sensation due to his stints in Hollywood. Unfortunately, his humanitarian persona needs to be reevaluated. After Hurricane Katrina hit the American shores like a storm, the country and the people wanted someone to step up. It was reported that over 1800 people lost their lives during the hurricane. One can’t blame the United States government because a natural disaster like that was inconceivable by officials. So, it was all a hands-on deck. That’s when the Fight Club actor decided to step up.
Mr. Pitt inaugurated the Make It Right Foundation, a nonprofit organization working to provide environment-friendly homes to hurricane victims. It was a much-needed endeavor, given that the country was facing a disaster that required urgent attention and assistance. Mr. Pitt’s organization surfaced in the media intending to help people rendered homeless by the hurricane and grabbed instant limelight. The task was enormous, but it seemed plausible initially, given that he hired some of the finest architects around, including Shigeru Ban, Thom Mayne, and Frank Gehry. Unfortunately, it was all talk and no action.
For over ten years, Brad Pitt and the Make It Right Foundation continued to con their fans and generate donations from them. Unfortunately, they didn’t do half of what they claimed to achieve in those affected areas. According to a report, most new residents found their new homes laced with issues despite the work beingcompleted by renowned architects. For instance, the foundation of these newly-built homes wasn’t strong enough, with black mold and water leaks all over the inside of these houses. It’s a huge problem, given Brad Pitt’s own brand persona and the team he hired for the job. The worse part of it all was that the actor seemed to be getting away with it.
The development halted when a Brad Pitt-lookalike decided to reach out to Kelli Christian, an international best-selling author, public speaker, and business owner. The lookalike convinced Ms. Christina that she was the actor-extraordinaire and even asked her hand in marriage. If it were any other celebrity, they would get to the bottom of this and clear their name. However, Brad Pitt had other ideas in mind.
So, when Ms. Christina accused Brad Pitt of negligence, the paparazzi and the media outlets took her to the curb. As someone fighting for the betterment of the people, this was unfortunate for her. More importantly, her goal was to expose Brad Pitt’s lack of focus on using the donations in the right manner. In 2018, Kelli advocated for fixing the issues in these houses because they are important for people living in those areas, but it was to no avail.
It was a classic case of “he said, she said” because Brad Pitt had to cover his actions up. The company took millions of dollars from the generous fans and used them in the worst possible manner. He tried to cover his catfish scams, but his attorneys refused to accept that they were working for him. All of this raises a few questions.
In a larger landscape, it’s not about Kelli Christina or even the followers; it’s about double-crossing those who trusted him. What makes matters worse is that nobody is being held responsible for it. With Brad Pitt continuing to mock the United States judicial system, where does it all end?
