In celebration of the Sikh New Year festival, Vaisakhi, the Kensington Metro Bank has donated bags of food to the Kensington & Chelsea Foodbank – part of the Trussell Trust.
The Trussell Trust supports communities and churches to open foodbanks across the UK. The Kensington & Chelsea foodbank is part of The Trussell Trust’s network of 428 foodbanks, working to tackle local food poverty and hunger.
“A huge thank you to all our customers and colleagues who donated so generously for the foodbank”, said Kensington High Street Metro Bank Local Director, Simon Sheeran. “Over 30 of our stores collected tens of thousands of items for local foodbanks for Vaisakhi which will benefit many local residents and families in need.”
The need for local foodbanks has never been greater with more than 14 million people in the UK living in poverty – including nearly 5 million children.
Kensington Metro Bank located at 160-166 Kensington High Street. The store is open for every day for donations from Monday to Saturday: 8.30am to 6pm, Sunday: 11am to 5pm.
