Lidl GB has confirmed that its new supermarket on Barking Road in East Ham is set to open for the first time on Thursday 11th January.

Becoming the discounters second store in East Ham, Lidl is set to boost local employment opportunities, creating around 40 full-time jobs. The move also highlights its continued investment into London after becoming the third largest supermarket in the city, over taking Asda.

Opening hours for its new East Ham store will be between 7am and 11pm on Monday to Saturday and from 10:30am for browsing on Sunday, with tills opening from 11am until 5pm. It will feature Lidl’s award-winning in-store bakery as well as its popular Middle of Lidl aisle.
Lidl GB’s Regional Head of Property, Colin Rimmer, commented: “As our customer base continues to grow in London, we are delighted to be opening the doors to our second East Ham store. It will complement our existing offering in the area and give the community even greater access to our high quality products at the lowest possible prices. Whether it is fresh produce, staple shopping list items or a must-have product from the Middle of Lidl, we’re committed to helping shoppers make sizable savings.”

As the UK’s fastest growing supermarket1, Lidl’s unparalleled quality-value combination has been winning customers over from across the country for nearly 30 years. This has been reinforced time and again through independent analysis, with The Grocer’s latest price comparisons naming the discounter as the cheapest supermarket for a basket of everyday items.
