Lidl GB has confirmed that its new supermarket on Gordon Road in Kingston will open for the first time on Thursday 19th January at 8am.
The store’s opening hours will be between 7am – 10pm on Monday to Saturday and 11am – 5pm on Sunday, providing locals with convenient access to Lidl’s quality products at affordable prices.
The opening will create around 40 jobs, with new starters being paid one of the highest rates in the industry. The store features the supermarket’s famous in-store bakery, customer toilets with baby changing facilities and ample parking for cars and bicycles.
In the first week, customers will be able to find exclusive deals and offers in the Middle of Lidl, including a Bread Maker (£24.99) on Friday 20th January, as well as a Gtech AirRam MK2 K9 (£99.00) and Bluetooth® Speaker (£9.99) on Saturday 21st January.
Lidl GB’s Regional Head of Property, Max Clapton, commented: “We’ve received overwhelming support from those in the local area throughout and would like to thank everyone who has played a part in delivering this new store. We can’t wait to open our doors and welcome customers into our new Kingston store. As many continue to tighten their belts to save money, residents will be able to see that they don’t have to compromise on quality when shopping with us.”
Lidl’s ongoing success shows no signs of slowing after becoming the 6th largest supermarket in the UK with a market share of 7.2 per cent. The discounter was recently named the cheapest supermarket in The Grocer’s ‘Super Grocer 33’ for the third time in a row – beating six major retailers, including Aldi. The index, which compares the price of 33 everyday grocery items across the UK’s seven major supermarkets, found Lidl to be £15.44 cheaper than Morrisons, and a whopping £27.88 cheaper than the most expensive retailer.
