Students at Lift Bexleyheath welcomed local MP Daniel Francis to their school last week.
Mr Francis was invited to the school to meet students, teachers and the principal. The MP was given a tour of the school by student leaders from Lift Bexleyheath, sharing their experiences and telling him about the education they receive.
Students had the opportunity to speak to Mr Francis in a question-and-answer session, where students asked thoughtful questions about how decisions are made in Parliament, the policies and ballots currently being considered, and what life is like as Member of Parliament.
One question that was high on the agenda was asking Mr Francis if all schools could receive funding for air conditioning, to better support learning during periods of extreme heat.
Daniel Francis MP listened carefully to the students’ views and committed to looking into the issue further.
One student leader said:
“I really enjoyed meeting our MP and thought Parliament and how it all works sounded really interesting. We spoke to Mr Francis about the extreme heat we have experienced and he promised to take our message back to the government to help all schools manage temperatures in the summer. We really felt listened to and it was great to welcome such an important visitor.”
Rubeka Luthfa, principal of Lift Bexleyheath said:
“This was an incredible opportunity for our students to welcome Daniel Francis MP to Lift Bexleyheath this week! I would like to thank him very much for taking the time to visit us and inspire our students.
“I am very proud of our young people who showcased our school and highlighted the ambition, curiosity and confidence that we strive to develop in every student. Our students showed maturity, confidence and curiosity throughout the visit. Opportunities like these help our young people become informed, engaged citizens who understand how they can influence the world around them.”
Daniel Francis is the MP for Bexleyheath and Crayford and has been an MP since 2024.
