Lightfoot launches sustainable driving technology at London Motor Show

Lightfoot – considered the ‘Fitbit for cars’ – is launching its new consumer offering at the London Motor Show this week. Developed and refined over several years, the connected car technology not only reduces emissions and accidents for businesses and private motorists, it rewards those drivers for making a positive impact.

After several years of exponential growth in the fleet sector, Lightfoot has become widely regarded as a disruptive technology that’s rewriting the relationship between driver and vehicle. The technology has been used across the UK fleet sector by household names including Virgin Media, South West Water and Greencore.

The London Motor Show boasts 20,000 sqm of exhibition space, with some of the biggest names in the automotive and vehicle technology industries setting up shop for four days of supercars, electric vehicles, stunts, demonstrations, the latest tech, and much more.

The in-vehicle device helps drivers find their engine ‘sweet spot’ by turning engine data into real-time feedback to help them improve efficiency. Lightfoot reduces fuel use and emissions rates by as much as 20%, while insurers and brokers report it reducing accident rates by up to 80%.

Lightfoot incentivises a safer, more efficient driving style with perks typically worth £773.50 per year*. Benefits include 10% off car and van rental, 20% off car insurance and over 100 more discounts online, on the high-street, and at venues – all in recognition of the cleaner, greener, safer drivers who make up the Lightfoot community.

Smooth drivers also have the opportunity to win prizes and participate in leagues, in which ‘Elite Drivers’ (those with a Lightfoot score of 85% or above) can win rewards ranging from track days with Nigel Mansell and trips to Paris to wireless speakers and cinema tickets.

Mark Roberts, Lightfoot’s founder and CEO, said: “The London Motor Show is the perfect place to officially launch Lightfoot to private motorists for a number of reasons. What better place could there be to launch revolutionary connected car technology than alongside the industry’s greatest innovators? And when London’s roads are crying out for cleaner cars, Lightfoot makes that a possibility.

We’re on a mission to change the way people think about driving. How you drive is far more important than what you drive. The environmental cost of manufacturing new cars – especially electric – is huge and will take years to produce a net reduction in emissions. Fitting the car you drive now with Lightfoot and improving its efficiency through your own actions will have an immediate and substantial impact. Sometimes, taking small steps together gets you further than trying one giant leap.”

Lightfoot’s devices are available online via Halfords or the company’s own website with two options to buy. Option one is to purchase a monthly plan for £9.99 plus the device for £1, with this option offering motorists all of the below benefits. Option two offers the device for a one-off fee of £149.00, with an optional accompanying £3.99 subscription.
