Residents from across Newham came together on Wednesday 24th June for St John’s Community Centre’s annual summer party, enjoying an afternoon of food, drink and live music. The event was supported by Argenta by Guinness Homes, which sponsored the celebration as part of its ongoing commitment to the local community.
Held at the community centre in the heart of the borough, the event welcomed local residents through its doors to celebrate the community spirit that has made St John’s a valued part of Newham life for many years.
Located in the heart of the borough, St John’s Community Centre plays an important role in supporting local people through a wide range of activities and services. Run by a dedicated team of volunteers, the centre hosts community gardening initiatives, a food hub, a lending library, walking groups, a chatty café and donation programmes for clothing, toys and household items, alongside regular social activities that help bring people together.
The support comes at a time when many community organisations are facing increasing financial pressures, while demand for local support services continues to grow. Community centres such as St John’s play a vital role in tackling social isolation, fostering community connections and providing practical support for residents, making local partnerships increasingly important.
