LOCKED IN FOR LIFE: REAL LIFE COUPLE TIE THE KNOT IN THE CRYSTAL DOME

This week saw the first ever couple marry at the Crystal Maze LIVE Experience in Manchester. Sales manager, Steve Wilde and Siân Johnson, a woodwind repairer, said their ‘I dos’ on the steps of the iconic Crystal Dome surrounded by loved ones.

38-year-old Steve and 35-year-old Siân, who first met 13 years ago whilst working at a rock club, tied the knot in front of 80 guests at the Crystal Maze LIVE Experience. The ceremony was conducted by a Maze Master Richard Ayoade lookalike. Guests were treated to a game in the Maze after watching the couple marry, and then sat down for a street food inspired meal including Poutine and Burgers.

The festivities continued into the evening with the bride and groom dancing their first dance to ‘Rhodd’ by Iwan Rheon and the pair cutting into their two-tiered cake. As the evening guests arrived, they were treated to a host of 90s classic tunes by the wedding band, The Uptones. The couple even got to wear bespoke bomber jackets, reminiscent of the original TV show’s classic team apparel.

Steve and Siân commented on their one-of-a-kind wedding: “After coming out the other end of the Pandemic, we wanted to make sure our wedding day was a truly memorable one for our family and for us. We wanted something fun and interactive that our guests could get involved with – a game and a challenge as well as a wedding! The Crystal Maze ticks all those boxes. It’s so cool and shiny but also familiar and nostalgic, we’re so excited we’re the first couple to get married here.”

The Crystal Maze LIVE Experience launched a range of wedding packages earlier this year, in response to the rise in demand for ‘unique weddings*.’ The aftermath of the Pandemic has also seen couples, like Steve and Siân, wanting fun smaller weddings for their guests. Couples can plan an entirely bespoke experience including the option to say their vows in three of the iconic zones – Aztec, Futuristic or Medieval or join in holy matrimony in the Crystal Dome.

Tom Lionetti-Maguire, CEO and Founder of Little Lion Entertainment Limited, commented on the launch, “Start the confetti fans, please! What an honour it has been to work with Steve and Siân to create a completely bespoke and enjoyable wedding for them and their guests. Hopefully the first of many happy couples to tie the knot in our iconic setting.”

Crystal Maze fans can put a spin on the traditional with a choice of two wedding ceremony options from The Crystal Maze LIVE Experience. Up to 80 guests can gather around the Crystal Dome while the love birds get hitched on the steps thanks to the Elopement Wedding package. Alternatively, those looking for the full Crystal Maze experience on their special day can opt for the Ultimate Challenge package and have their wedding party split into teams to take on a series of famous Crystal Maze challenges before watching the official ceremony in one of the zones. Couples can also hire the Maze’s Event Space for their wedding reception, where a range of bespoke catering options are available from luxury five-course meals to a spectacular hog roast.

Wedding packages in the Manchester attraction, located next to the Museum of Science and Industry, are available to book from today for weddings now from £2,000.
