The lastminute.com London Eye reveals that it will become a virtual illuminated scoreboard for the first time ever for the FIFA World Cup England quarter-final match vs France this Saturday 10th December .
Starting at 7pm, when the match kicks off, Londoners will be able to keep up with England’s squad simply by turning their eyes up to the sky!
On Friday 9th December, the night before the quarter-final, the London Eye will light up in the colours of the St George’s Cross flag symbolising England’s support for our boys in red and white. On match night itself the flag-inspired pattern will light up the sky again, with one notable difference – it will flash and swirl in celebration to let Londoners know when England have scored. The results will be tracked in real time, and flashes of France’s national flag colours will also shine out in red, white and blue if the opposing team have scored instead.
If England wins – the London Eye’s iconic lights will shine red and white over London long into the evening in celebration.
Imran Tauqir, General Manager at the lastminute.com London Eye, said: “As a global symbol of London and beyond we are proud to support our England national team and all those countries who have made it this far in the tournament.
“We would suggest to those who don’t want any real time spoilers on Saturday night to not look too far up in the London sky although, with the beautiful backdrop that the capital has to offer, it may simply be irresistible!”
