In central London, Park Plaza London Riverbank has collaborated with the Natural History Museum to launch the Natural History Museum Dinosaur Family Suite, a first-of-its-kind family room inspired by the Museum’s world-renowned fossil collections and the Cretaceous age of the dinosaurs – a family stay millions of years in the making.
The Suite brings together playful imagination, discovery-led storytelling and authentic natural history detail. Dinosaurs have captured children’s imaginations for generations, remaining a timeless source of wonder, curiosity and creative play. By combining that enduring fascination with the expertise of the Natural History Museum, the Suite transforms a familiar childhood favourite into an experience that feels both magical and meaningful.
The Museum’s own experts were involved throughout the process, shaping everything from the room’s design and layout to the smaller details woven through the stay. From the fossils and specimens displayed throughout the space to the species, vegetation and prehistoric landscapes depicted in the murals, each element has been carefully developed to feel scientifically informed and rooted in palaeontology.
The story starts as soon as families check in, with a letter from a natural historian inviting them to decode a hidden message with a magnifying glass and follow dinosaur tracks through the hotel to their room.
Inside, the adult bedroom is designed as a refined natural history study, with Museum-inspired shelving, maps, fossils and discovery cues. Then comes the reveal: a hidden door, disguised as a bookcase, opens into the children’s room, a fully immersive world inspired by the Late Cretaceous Period, the final age of the dinosaurs.
Designed for families to rest, play and explore together, the Suite includes:
A dinosaur-inspired bunk bed built into a dramatic Tyrannosaurus nest structure
A dedicated lounge and play area where children and parents can spend time together
Natural History Museum-themed games, toys and discovery activities
Storage containers filled with dinosaur eggs, fossils and other tactile details to uncover
Floor-to-ceiling murals depicting scientifically-informed Late Cretaceous landscapes, species and vegetation
Moss-effect flooring and immersive design features that make the room feel like a prehistoric habitat
Maps, specimens and hidden educational cues designed to encourage curiosity throughout the stay
The story continues throughout the stay, with Natural History Museum-themed games in the room and children able to track down dinosaurs hidden around the hotel. A certificate of palaeontology will be waiting at reception for those who find them all.
The Natural History Museum Suite sits alongside ten additional new Family Rooms catering to families of up to five at Park Plaza London Riverbank. Designed to help families slow down, explore together and make lasting memories, it adds to the hotel’s already extensive family offering.

The Natural History Museum Suite will be bookable here from 1st September, with stays available from 8th October 2026, with stays starting at £650 a night.
