New research from community marketplace Airtasker has found that London is the UK region most likely to outsource a household task. 27% of Londoners said having people over for dinner fills them with dread and they would be willing to pay someone to help them cook evening meals if they could.
On the other end of the scale Essex, Cambridgeshire and Norfolk are among those most likely to refuse spending money on outsourcing tasks, with 42% saying that this would be the main reason to keep them from doing so.
The research was commissioned to celebrate the launch of Airtasker into the UK. Airtasker is a marketplace that connects people and businesses with members of the local community who are able to complete odd jobs to earn additional money. These Taskers will assemble your flat-pack furniture, clean up your pet’s mess, colour coordinate your wardrobe and, if needs be help you retrieve a drone you might have gotten stuck in a tree!
Shockingly, the survey of 2,000 adults also found that nearly 20% of 18-34 year olds don’t know how to change a lightbulb or clean a car on their own. A third of Brits (36%) don’t know how to put up a set of shelves, 33 per cent can’t assemble flat pack furniture and 21% couldn’t hang a picture.
