Monday morning commuters and passers-by across London are invited to be in the running to win a “dream boarding pass” for two people to fly from London to Perth, Western Australia (WA) with Emirates Airlines.
‘Boarding passes’ will be given away at Piccadilly Circus, Canary Wharf and High Street Kensington between 10am and 6pm on Monday, 30 January.
Entrants can scan QR code on their passes and enter their details, to see if they’ve won flights for two to Western Australia.
During their Western Australian holiday, the two lucky winners can soak up the sun, explore otherworldly landscapes, and experience swimming with gentle whale sharks on the world heritage-listed Ningaloo Reef.
The competition comes as a new survey* reveals gentle whale sharks are the number one ocean animal that Brits would like to see up close when they visit Australia.
Many may not know that these gentle giants of the sea are the largest fish in the world.
Each has its own unique spotted pattern, they give birth to live young referred to as ‘pups’, and every year, more than 400 migrate to Ningaloo Reef on Australia’s Coral Coast, making Western Australia the best place in the world to swim with them.
In fact, on any day between March and September each year, visitors will have a 95 per cent chance of spotting a whale shark.
Tourism Western Australia Managing Director Carolyn Turnbull, highlights why gentle whale sharks and Western Australia’s striking landscapes are such a drawcard for UK visitors:
“Every year hundreds of whale sharks glide through the ocean to Ningaloo Reef – the world’s longest fringing reef – to feed on the rich and healthy plankton in this pristine and beautiful coastal haven.
“This gentle, harmless fish is joined by manta rays and humpbacks during the year, making Ningaloo Reef a paradise for those looking for a marine adventure to see these ‘big three’ ocean wonders.
