LSBU Students and Staff Shortlisted for Student Nursing Times Awards 2023

Six students and one member of staff at London South Bank University (LSBU) have been shortlisted in the annual Student Nursing Times Awards. The Student Nursing Times Awards celebrate the very best in nursing and Midwifery education by recognising and rewarding brilliant students and educational establishments.

The shortlist, revealed today, honours individuals and organisations from across the student nursing community in 22 categories. LSBU is proud to have 6 students shortlisted in 3 categories: ‘Student Nurse of the Year: Children’, ‘Student Midwife of the Year’, and the ‘Mary Seacole Award for Outstanding Contribution to Diversity and Inclusion’. LSBU Senior Lecturer in Adult Nursing, Jane Crussell, is also nominated for ‘University Educator of the Year’. LSBU Institute of Health and Social Care is shortlisted for the ‘Partnership of the Year’ Award, in recognition of its important collaboration with Gift of Living Donation (GOLD) – a Black African Caribbean community organization dedicated to transforming the lives of Black people through living kidney donation.

The full list of LSBU’s shortlisted students and staff, and their categories, is as follows:

Student Nurse of the Year: Children: Samantha Palmer, Ellie Scott Cole and Tim Walsh

Mary Seacole Award for Outstanding Contribution to Diversity and Inclusion: Sarah Quashie (LSBU Community Ambassador)

Student Midwife of the Year: Rachel Brackpool and Amba Morrell

·
Partnership of the Year: LSBU and Gift of Living Donation (GOLD)

·
University Educator of the Year: Jane Crussell, Senior Lecturer Adult Nursing.

At a time where the nursing and Midwifery industry faces increasing pressure, the Awards are the perfect opportunity to celebrate the educators who inspire and motivate their nursing students, creating the next generation of nurses and midwives.”

The winners will be announced on 28th April 2023, at a live awards ceremony hosted at JW Marriott Grosvenor House Hotel on Park Lane.
