Youngs’ directorial debut Two Graves (starring Cathy Tyson, Katie Jarvis, Dave Johns) was released on Netflix in May 2019.
Young previously wrote award winning British crime film, Harry Brown (starring Michael Caine) and now follows up with UK/South Africa official co-production action thriller Stolen.
The female lead will be played by Marsha Thomason who became a familiar face to British and American audiences in White Collar, Lost and box office hits like Black Knight with Martin Lawrence and Haunted Mansion with Eddie Murphy.
Thomason will be joined by Michael Landes (Angel Has Fallen/ Hooten & the Lady),Femi Oyeniran (The Intent/ Anuvahood) Shantelle Rochester (Two Graves) and Clare Anyiam-Osigwe (No Shade). U.K and U.S casting handled by Sam Claypole and some exciting South African talent will be announced shortly.
Stolen follows ex-military officer & single mother Seline (Thomason) who runs a private security business in the U.K has her world turned upside down when news hits of her daughters involvement in a fatal shooting whilst on holiday with Selines’ sister Collette (Anyiam-Osigwe). It is up to Seline and her team Terry (Landes), Shebala (Rochester) Steve (Oyeniran) and Cindy to find out what happened to her in Durban, South Africa.
The film is produced by Shantelle Rochester, (who also stars) for Ida Rose; Uzanenkosi from Ants Multimedia and executive producer Jezz Vernon. Rochester met Uzanenkosi in October 2017 as part of a BFI-backed trade mission with Kwazulu-Natal film commission headed by Jackie Motsepe.
This is the second film from the Ida Rose slate and they are open to discussions with potential sales agents, distributors and slate financiers.
