“Matt Hancock is a liar and is to blame for covid carnage,” says care home owner

A CARE home owner has claimed that Matt Hancock is being dishonest over care home deaths during the Covid pandemic saying he is a “sociopath”.

In an explosive attack, David Crabtree, from Bingley, West Yorkshire told GB News: “He has a tenuous grasp on the truth – I think he’s a liar and an inept sociopath.

“He has no view about humanity, no humility. He went on to Get Me Out of Here and said he wanted forgiveness, forgiveness for what mistakes were made in Covid.

“And we all accept that. But then he blamed Sunak for no PPE, he blamed Public Health England for the discharge of people back into care homes.”

Speaking to Philip Davies and Esther McVey, Mr Crabtree, who runs care homes called Sunningdale in Heaton and The Raikes in Silsden, said: “We’ve been dealing with flu and other viruses for many, many years. So if anybody gets flu or they get coronavirus, obviously you isolate yourself.

“We did everything possible. We were scrambling for PPE, there was no testing so it wasn’t possible to know whether staff were asymptomatic or residents were symptomatic.

“Mistakes were made, that’s fine, but then what we need is not somebody saying I’m going to blame the care home owners or I’m going to blame Rishi Sunak or I’m gonna blame somebody else.

“The man needs to disappear because of his ineptness in every decision…he will be gone in 18 months, out of the public view and we can all breathe a sigh of relief.

“There were no care home deaths in Hong Kong. I emailed my fabulous local MP and said to him we should be decamping into the empty hotels to isolate them for ten days and then moving them back into the care home that they belong to.”

The comments come in the week Mr Hancock announced he was stepping down as an MP.

His announcement came as some local party members said he was “not fit to represent” them.

In a letter, the West Suffolk Conservative Association president urged Chief Whip Simon Hart not to re-admit Mr Hancock as a Tory MP.

Mr Hancock was suspended from the party for joining the I’m A Celebrity show and is currently an independent MP.

Announcing his decision not to stand at the next election, Mr Hancock said he had “discovered a whole new world of possibilities which I am excited to explore”.

He added that politicians need to find “new ways to reach people” outside Parliament.

He concluded his letter by saying it had been “an honour to serve in Parliament and represent the people of West Suffolk”.

“I will play my part in the debate about the future of our country and engage with the public in new ways,” he said.
