Crouch End Open Studios returns next week, with 59 artists taking part across more than 40 venues in the Crouch End area, including many local cafes and businesses, as well as artists’ homes and studios.
The art trail, now in its 21st year and organised this year by artists Elizabeth Brown and Isabella Lloyd Mitchell, takes place over the weekend of 9 and 10 May, from midday to 6pm, with a group exhibition and workshops for children and adults at The Original Gallery at Hornsey Library from 8 to 17 May.
Artists include Mark Entwisle, the 2020 Sunday Times Watercolour competition winner, Jenna Waldren, who reached the semi-finals of Sky Arts Portrait Artist of the Year 2024, and Simon Gazzard, who was one of the participants in the Sky Arts Landscape Artist of the Year 2025.
There is an interactive map on the website, crouchendopenstudios.org.uk, where people can find venues and plan a route.
The group exhibition at The Original Gallery at Hornsey Library, will have one piece by each artist involved, making it a good place to start on the art trail.
There will also be a series of workshops at the gallery, including live portrait painting on 15 May, 1-4pm, by Rachel Mercer and Kim Scouller. The artists, both alumni of the Royal Drawing School, will draw and paint each other and then will do live 15 minute portraits or people who attend for £15 (booking required).
Isabella Lloyd Mitchell, will run a drawing session on 16 May, 12-2pm, suitable for all ages. This is free, with 12 spaces available on a first come first served basis and all materials will be provided.
New to this year’s art trail, artist Sarah Elliot is running a drawing toys workshop for children on 16 May, 3-4pm, where children can bring a favourite today to draw (booking required).
Crouch End Open Studios co-chair, artist Isabella Lloyd Mitchell, said: “We can’t wait to welcome people to this year’s art trail. There is so much to see and a great selection of workshops that people can get involved in. We have a fantastic mix and range of artists taking part, so there really is something to interest everyone, including paintings, prints, ceramics, drawings, glass, mixed media, photography and sculptures.”
The Crouch End Open Studios art trail takes place on Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 May, 12-6pm, with the group show and workshops at The Original Gallery, Hornsey Library, London N8 9JA, from 8 to 17 May. More information and details of workshops at crouchendopenstudios.org.uk
