More than 1874 hikers went the extra mile along the Thames Path on 13th June, taking on a Macmillan Cancer Support Mighty Hike and raising an incredible £776,113 so far to help fund vital Macmillan information and support services for people living with cancer.

Walking 13 or 26 miles along the stunning route, hikers faced a physically demanding challenge, powered by personal reasons, determination and a shared commitment to support others.

Chloe said “Well done to everyone who walked yesterday and thank you to all the Macmillan staff and volunteers who made the day so great! It’s been a blast to train for, fundraise for and take part in the Mighty Hike! So proud of our team raising over £7200 for this amazing cause.”

Rachael said: “We did it!! What an amazing day! Weather was perfect and we talked to so many lovely people on route. Well done to Macmillan and all the awesome volunteers that work so hard to put on such a fabulously well organised event. This was my third Mighty Hike but definitely won’t be my last! Well done to all you Mighty Hikers, see you next year”

Lauren McEvoy, Mighty Hike Team Manager at Macmillan Cancer Support, says:
“The Mighty Hike community is truly inspiring. It’s incredible to see so many people come together on the Thames Path, pushing themselves through a tough physical challenge, all to support people living with cancer.

“We’re so grateful to every single person who took part and helped raise £776,113 so far. Every step taken and every pound raised will help us continue to provide vital support to people who need it most.

“The waiting list for our 2026 Thames Path Mighty Hike is now open and there are still some places available at a small number of our other Macmillan Mighty Hikes this summer, so sign up now at mightyhikes.macmillan.org.uk.”

The number of people living with cancer in the UK is at a record high – almost 3.5 million – and is still rising. Cancer is the biggest challenge many people will ever face, and it can be made even tougher because of who you are, where you live, what you earn or how you communicate. Every penny raised by mighty hikers will help Macmillan go the extra mile to do whatever it takes for people living with cancer, whoever and wherever they are.

Macmillan Mighty Hikes are a series of one-day half and full marathon fundraising hikes, running from May to September in some of the UK’s most beautiful locations. This year, hikes are taking place across 12 stunning locations in all four UK nations.

Last year, an incredible team of more than 35,000 hikers took part raising a record-breaking £15 million during the event’s 10th anniversary year. Since 2015, Mighty Hikes has raised an incredible £85 million to support people living with cancer.
