Central London cultural and musical hotspot, SOUND Cafe at The Cumberland Hotel London, announces today that Scissor Sisters’ multi-talented frontman and actor Jake Shears will share the stage with critically acclaimed pop artist and West End star Self Esteem, for an evening of theatrical conversation.

The event will take place on Sunday 3rd December with tickets now on sale via Ticket Tailor. An intimate conversation between friends, together the pair will discuss their icons and inspirations, musical and otherwise, who have informed their journey to who they are as performers. The two stars will also delve into their time on stage, providing insight into their shared West End experience.

Outside of their current theatrical roles, both Jake and Rebecca Lucy have richly established musical careers. Jake Shears, a dynamic force in music, fuses ’70s glitter rock with house and electroclash. As the charismatic Scissor Sisters frontman, he left a significant mark on the LGBTQ community and the U.K. charts. Beyond the band, Shears made waves in theatre, with a Broadway debut in “Kinky Boots” in 2017, co-writing the acclaimed musical “Tammy Faye” in 2022, and currently starring alongside Self Esteem as Emcee in the Kit Kat Club’s production of Cabaret on the West End. His solo journey, evident in albums like 2018’s “Jake Shears” and 2023’s “Last Man Dancing,” showcases a diverse range from witty heartache to dancefloor anthems, solidifying his status as a multi-talented artist.

BRIT Award and Mercury Prize nominated artist, Rebecca Lucy Taylor, otherwise known as Self Esteem, is a hugely talented artist who commands both the stage and the screen. Praised for tackling important issues around female autonomy and self-love through her intimate, confessional and witty lyricism and anthemic, maximalist pop rhythms, Self Esteem has sold out tours in ever-growing venues across the UK. As Self Esteem, Rebecca Taylor has shaken off the shackles of her indie band past to become the unapologetic pop star she always wanted to be.

Doors will open at 5:00pm for guests to take priority seats, enjoy drinks and order dinner ahead of the talk, for meals to be enjoyed as Jake Shears and Self Esteem’s take to the stage at 7:00pm. The talk will be over the course of two hours, with a short break in between. Following the talk there will be a Q&A session with the audience.
