The brand-new Jubilee Community Leisure Centre, a versatile community facility designed to host a diverse array of activities, is now open to the public.
The new centre on Lancefield Street, owned by City of Westminster and operated in partnership with Everyone Active, features a three-court sports hall suitable for five-a-side football, basketball, futsal, netball, volleyball, badminton and table tennis.
It also offers a community room which can be used for small group activities, events, community meetings and children’s parties.
To help support the residents’ wellbeing, the centre will offer 20 hours of free community usage per week, in partnership with the council, which include physical, conversational and arts-based activities.
Sessions will include coffee mornings, youth clubs, basketball sessions and an array of wellbeing activities for all ages, with the goal of supporting health and overall wellbeing while enhancing community access to services and facilities.
The new leisure centre also includes a private exercise consultation room for the Physical Activity Referral Scheme where healthcare professionals can refer residents to receive a tailored exercise programme to help deal with long term health conditions such as diabetes.
The new community centre also features a ‘changing places’ facility allowing users with complex disabilities and their carers to fully access the facilities.
Chris Yearley, General Manager at Everyone Active, said: “We’re really pleased to have opened up a brand-new offering to the local community in Westminster. It is a small but fantastic facility and perfect for multiple team and individual sports to be played, as well as offer a multi-use studio where our community can come together.”
The new facility will be open from 8:00am until 10:00pm on weekdays and 9:00am to 8pm at weekends.
